Greetings from the North Sea

To you, eagle high uo over the mountians,
the seagull from the sea
sends a greeting from the foaming waves
to your peaks, from snow never free.

Once we met, you and me,
aeans ago,
by the mirror of the loveliest of lakes
during the time the roses grow.

Silently we roamed together,
in deepest peace we went,
only a black sang his songs
in his boat as accompaniment.
